Hi Joel -

Good job, again. You brought the gouache of Charlie B., and the Painter reproduction of Mousiavinci as done by Caravaggio. You also included the search for Complement...

Charlie B. - Excellent job here, but the emphasis was supposed to be like the Rembrandt painting - Grade - C.

Mousiavinci - Excellent - A

Complement - A

Perspective of Face/Head - Unfinished - No Grade

This week, I want to refocus your attention on Chiaroscuro and thinking in Lights/Darks. Please redo Charlie B. as Rembrandt, but this time I want you to use the Painter program to start. Second, after you have finished, then do a gouache of Charlie, using the finished Painter version.

Third, please finish the "visual illusion". I have several reasons for you to do this:
  1. Brush control - I want you to learn to use the brush more articulately.
  2. Paint control - I want you to learn to use paint - in this exercise, attempt to have every block as dark as the one across from it.
  3. Composition control - I want you to realize that excellent composition starts with every mark you make. If you prepare well, then your picture will turn out well.
Finally, please make a google search for Perspective as it applies to the face. Look for George Bridgman, and/or Ron Lemen.

I look forward to seeing you next week!

Paul
